Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy

Typically, individual therapy involves a 50-minute session once a week, although other meeting

schedules are not uncommon.

Individual sessions begin with a 50-minute initial consultation, during which the therapist

gathers a variety of background information and learns about the current situation or

circumstances that have brought you to this point in your life.

The first session discusses a treatment plan and a general meeting schedule is agreed upon.

Although once-weekly meetings are standard, other options are also common. For clients with

limited time or resources, bi-weekly meetings may be more practical. Individuals going through

a particularly intense life transition or stressful experience may choose to come in several times

weekly at first.

Individual sessions provide a nurturing and non-judgmental space where you can freely explore

any aspect of your life. Whether it's your career, relationships, stress management, self-

confidence, motivation, or any other issue, you are encouraged to express your thoughts and

feelings without fear of judgment or societal expectations.

Although an individual session involves exploring feelings and beliefs, it is also about making a

concrete plan for growth. Your past experiences influence your thoughts and feelings about your

present life circumstances. Dwelling in the past, however, is never the goal of therapy. You

examine your limiting core beliefs and discourage past experiences only so that you can

overcome them. Individual sessions involve hard work. It requires the courage and willingness to

take action steps toward your personal goals.

The therapist's role is to guide and support you in your journey of self-discovery and personal

growth. She encourages you to set clear goals, break them into manageable steps, and track your

progress in a structured way. Your active participation and commitment to positive action are the

key factors in determining the success of your therapy.
